Planet Earth

The Earth is the third planet from the Sun in our Solar System and is teeming with life. There are millions of species of animals, insects, fish and birds all living on the planet. There are also a huge number of trees and plants.

Human beings are the sentient life form but their influence on planet Earth is one that is causing problems for all concerned!

The focus on burning fossil fuels, particularly in power stations and in internal combustion engines, is potentially changing the balance of incoming and outgoing radiation between the Sun and planet Earth.

One consequence of this potential imbalance could be an increase in result in global temperatures. Thise temperature increases could result in polar ice caps melting and sea levels rising with the loss of low lying coasts and islands around the globe.
