One of the most essential things that plants do is to absorb the energy from the Sun in a process known as photosynthesis, and to use that energy to grow. Thus sunshine is the source of all of our natural foods! We tend not to eat grass although it is the main food for many animals, but we do eat vegetables and fruit. Of course meat and fish are also an important element of our diet.

Note that we only have fish in our seas because of plankton in the water which are part of the food chain. Plankton includes microscopic plants which grow because of the energy from the Sun.
Indirectly people eat sunshine!
