Toads

True toads (Bufonidae) are found on almost every continent with the exception of Australia and Antarctica.

However the Cane toad was imported into Australia to combat the threat from the cane beetle (Dermolepida albohirtum). However the Cane toad has a voracious appetite and is damaging populations of many different species. Animals that eat the Cane toad are often killed by its toxic skin.
