Polar bears are carnivores. They live in the Arctic circle and the surrounding area.
Polar bears are large. An adult male weighs weighs betweem 300 and 700 kg, the females are generally half that size of the males.
They hunt mainly seals and spend a lot of time in the water and on pack ice.
The pregnant females dig themselves into a den in the snow in the autumn and go into a hibernation like state. The cubs are born during this time. The female polar bear awakes from hibernation in early April and digs herself and the cubs out of the den. She is then faced with the task of finding food to feed both herself and the cubs.
