Camels
Camels are even-toed ungulates of the genus Camelus. They are distinguished by the humps on their back, which are actually large deposits of fat!
There are two species of camels:-
- the dromedary or Arabian camel has a single hump
- the Bactrian camel has two humps.
Camels are native to dry desert areas which are mainly in Asia. Camels are domesticated animals. They are used as beasts of burden as well as providing meat and milk.
Camels have one unpleasant habit of spitting on people who get too close to them.
