There are five species of Rhinoceros on planet earth. Two are found in Africa and three are in southern Asia.
The Javan Rhinoceros, the Sumatran Rhinoceros and the Black Rhinoceros are critically endangered. The Indian Rhinoceros has less than 2,700 individuals in the wild.
The White Rhinoceros has approximately 17,500 remaining in the wild.
The Indian Rhinoceros are found mainly in north-eastern India and Nepal. They live in the tall grasslands and forests of the Himalayan foothills. Males weigh up to 3000 kg (6,600 lb)
The Black Rhinoceros is found in eastern and central areas of Africa. A male Black Rhinoceros can weigh up to 1500 kg (approx 3,000 lb).
They are aggressive animals and will charge anything that they determine could be a threat.
