millipedes

Millipedes are found throughout most of the world. They are arthopods, which means that every body segment (except the one behind the head itself) have two pairs of legs. Each pair of legs is lifted at the same time as they walk.

They feed on rotting wood and vegetation and are an important link in recycling organic matter in the soil.
