| The European wasp, also known as the German wasp, is found throughout the northern hemisphere. In the USA they are called yellowjackets. | A nest of the European wasp, also known as the German wasp. The nest itself is well designed, with lightweight materials used in its construction. The nest is actually made from chewed plant fibres, mixed with saliva. The technique of bonding hexagonal sided cells together makes the nest very strong. |
