Dugongs and Manatees

The dugong is a large marine mammal that can be found in many warm coastal areas around the world. The dugong is related to manatees.

These large mammals are completely vegetarian. They feed on underwater grasses. They need to breathe air but can stay underwater for more than five minutes at a time.

Manatees are large marine mammals, they are very similar to Dugongs but have shorter snouts. They are herbivores and eat up to 10% of their bodyweight each day.
