The western brown snake has a highly variable body colouration. There are numerous colour variations which lead to the snakes identification being easily mistaken.

Although its venom is not as toxic as the Eastern brown snake's venom, the amount of venom in a bite is significantly more and this makes the western brown snake extremely dangerous.
